Resident Coordinator - Meadow at Melrose

ABOUT US: Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is the leading service provider for youth experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in West Los Angeles. Founded in 2011, SPY offers trauma-informed, low barrier programs that support young people in exiting the streets and achieving stability. SPY strives to attract and develop individuals who reflect a broad spectrum of diversity and is committed to overcoming structural barriers to equity.

ABOUT THE ROLE: The Resident Coordinator will be responsible for general oversight of the property, cleanliness, safety, crisis responses, and conflict management. This position reports to the Transitional Housing Supervisor and requires evening and weekend hours. Schedule: Saturday-Sunday, 11:00pm-7:30am, 16 hours/week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Daily house and property inspection to maintain curb appeal and resident safety
• Maintain adequate inventory and storage of program supplies
• Assist with program intakes and exits
• Coordinate meal support and food pantry donations
• Report health, safety, and maintenance issues to appropriate managers
• Interact with and build relationships with residents, provide crisis response and conflict resolution
• Communicate issues to Housing Programs Manager and work with case managers
• Coordinate volunteers and on-site programs
• Create resource lists for residents
• Drive SPY vehicles to transport residents to services
• Assist in preparation of required program reports

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field preferred; related work or lived experience strongly considered
• 2+ years experience providing direct services to high-risk transition age youth preferred
• Working knowledge of child/adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction
• Great communication and organizational skills
• Valid California driver's license, auto insurance, and ability to transport clients required
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
• Subject to criminal and driving background checks

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Mandated reporter under California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. COVID-19 vaccination required with proof of booster if eligible; weekly testing if not fully vaccinated. Cell phone reimbursement provided.
