Youth and Family Development Associate

Department: Youth Prevention & Intervention Program Status: Regular, full-time, non-exempt Location: SBCS Headquarters, Chula Vista Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. operating hours (eight-hour workday); must be available weekday evenings.

Role Overview: Under supervision of the YPI Program Director and Program Coordinator, the Youth and Family Development Associate provides services to at-risk youth and families in the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program. ATD offers detention alternatives to juvenile offenders through trauma-informed, family-centered services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete comprehensive family-based assessments using the Family Wellbeing Assessment and San Diego Risk & Resiliency Checkup Tool
• Develop strength-based, individualized family treatment plans
• Provide family-centered case management and related services
• Conduct home visits, school visits, field visits, and office visits
• Maintain case records in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database
• Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with community partners
• Coordinate with Probation, law enforcement, juvenile court, and other agencies
• Facilitate weekly evidence-based, trauma-informed center-based groups
• Serve as liaison between program and Juvenile Hall
• Provide crisis intervention services and referrals
• Transport clients safely as related to service delivery
• Conduct outreach to target populations
• Prepare monthly statistical reports
• Attend all required agency meetings and trainings

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, child development, criminal justice, social work, or closely related field
• Minimum 1–2 years experience in child, youth, and family services
• Experience in individual, group, and family counseling; school-based services; outreach; community education; advocacy; and case management
• Ability to work with diverse populations with cultural sensitivity
• Valid California driver's license and auto insurance
• Reliable transportation
• Successful completion of background clearances (DOJ criminal background check, National Sex Offender Public Website screening, drug test, TB test)
• Drug screening per County of San Diego and federal policy
